Creative wall decoration made of Trotec Materials

See in this step-by-step instruction how you can make a great wall decoration using different Trotec materials.

Step 1: Import design

Download our sample graphic and adapt it to your needs. Send the graphics for the different TroGlass-materials to your Trotec Laser with the following settings:

Process ModeResolutionCut lineHalftoneOthers
Vector Job 1000 dpi none Color Optimized geometries

Step 2: Cutting TroGlass Materials

Position the first TroGlass material on the acrylic cutting grid of your Trotec laser and cut the individual pieces. Do the same with the other materials as well. You can leave the protective foil on the material if you want. We removed it because we did not want to remove them for every single piece. Please note that the parameters used can differ depending on the laser machine used and the available laser power

Step 3: TroLase Foil

The two half circles of TroLase foil are the all-over background on which we put the individual pieces. Send the half circle to the laser using the following parameters:

Process ModeResolutionCut lineHalftoneOthers
Vector Job 1000 dpi none Color Optimised Geometries

Step 4: Cutting TroLase Foil

Put the TroLase Foil on the acrylic grid and cut the half circle using the following parameters. You will need 2 pieces.

Step 5: Design Solid Wood Maple

Now you can send the design for MDF and solid wood maple using the following parameters:

Process ModeResolutionCut lineHalftoneOthers
Vector Job 1000 dpi none Color Optimised Geometries

Step 6: Cutting Solid Wood

Change the acrylic cutting grid against the honeycomb cutting table and use the small nozzle for clean cutting edges. Cut the maple wood using the following parameters:

ColorProcessPower (%)Speed (%)ppi/Hz
red Cut CO2 100 1.4 1000

Step 7: Cutting MDF

Put the MDF plate into your Trotec laser and cut the single pieces using the following parameters:

ColorProcessPower (%)Speed (%)ppi/Hz
red Cut CO2 90 0.4 1000

Step 8: Assembly

The most time-consuming part of this sample is certainly the assembly of the decoration. First glue the two star like base plates with the circle of TroGlass Satins.

Make sure that the two large pieces are well positioned edge to edge. Now turn the decoration and remove the protective foil (if you haven't removed it before cutting). Fix the two half circles of TroLase Foil.

Now take the time to apply the pieces of the different materials. Glue it on the white base plate only when you are sure that they are positioned correctly. It is helpful to have an image of the finished graphic to hand. You will find this image in the download document provided.

If all pieces have been fixed, you can mount the decoration on the wall using the mounting devices.

Inspiration
  • Use this great decoration as a wall clock as well, by just cutting a hole in the middle and insert the clockwork from the back.

  • By combining other TroGlass colors and wood types, you can easily create a version that fits perfectly into any office, clubhouse, lounge, etc.

  • Use a mirror foil of the TroLase Thins-prodcut range instead of the white TroLase Foil. As a result you get a reflecting surface, which is a great effect.
